Research · The Trust Economy
Building the language of the Trust Economy.
TrustEconomy.ae documents, defines and explores an emerging economic category — connecting identity, ownership, authority, verification, compliance and evidence.
Independent research founded by Ian Hamilton.
Why a research initiative
A new category needs a common language before it needs a product.
The category — the Trust Economy — already exists in fragments across banks, registries, regulators and auditors. Each holds a piece of the same problem, in its own vocabulary, behind its own boundary.
What is missing is shared definition. TrustEconomy.ae exists to define it, to ask the difficult questions, to connect existing areas of technology, regulation and assurance, and to develop a common language.
Not to claim ownership of the category — to help name it.

The founding paper
Trust Infrastructure
By Ian Hamilton
A category paper examining why the digital economy requires a new infrastructure layer — one connecting identity, ownership, authority, verification, compliance and evidence into something that can be relied upon at scale.
PORTABLE TRUST
Verified evidence should travel between authorised commercial relationships — proven once, recognised elsewhere.
FEDERATED TRUST
Trust should draw on authoritative sources, not one universal database — distributed authority, coherent recognition.
AGENTIC TRUST
AI creates a new requirement: to establish not just identity, but the authority to act on another's behalf.
The glossary
A new category needs a common language.
How the research is framed
The purpose of Trust Infrastructure is not to remove judgement. It is to give judgement better evidence.
Founder
IAN HAMILTON
Founder, TrustEconomy.ae
Ian Hamilton founded TrustEconomy.ae to explore, define and advance the idea of the Trust Economy and the infrastructure required to support it.
The objective is not to claim ownership of the category, but to help define it — as one of many voices establishing a shared language for what the digital era now demands.
“The world does not have a shortage of information. It has a shortage of information we can prove.” — Ian Hamilton
